J.H. - Dallas County 10.22.09 "On Sunday 10-18-09 I was moving into my new apartment. Something happened and I suddenly had excruciating pain in my cervical area through my left shoulder and left arm! Went to the ER at Baylor Hospital in Irving on Monday and I had no insurance. They processed me as a self pay. After many hours they did an MRI which revealed a herniated disc pinching a nerve right below the 3-level fusion I already had in the summer of 2007. The social worker at Baylor referred me to Parkland Health Systems Program but I did not qualify because even though I had been unemployed for approximately 1 year, my new employer has limited benefits which I don't have access to yet and my new income put me over the limit for Parklands Health System Program. I need HELP to get whatever treatment I need to eliminate this horriffic pain!

C.D. - Texas Collin County - 07.15.08 " I have a medical disability that occurred 4 yrs ago and has not gotten any better even after having 2 surgeries. Due to all this I lost a good salaried job and have not been able to work a normal job since because of chronic nerve pain from my neck down entire right arm, hand and shoulder area. I need 2 test done. An MRI and EMG testing to try and find out as well as locate where the problem is and what is causing the nerve pain. Then to be able to correct it so that I can get back to working and having a normal life again. I hurt all the time and have to lie still to ease the pain. I depend on alot of pain medication daily to try and control the pain, but it only works a few hrs a day every other day. Plus there are many side effects from the medication such as blurry vision, difficult concentrating, extreme fatigue and trouble with memory..... Right now I do phone sales from home, but paid straight commission and it's not dependable to pay my monthly bills. The income varies too much. I desperately need help with getting assistance with the medical tests and dental work done. I have no insurance and I've nearly come to the end of all my funds. I've filed for social security disability and now appealing their denial.I have knocked on many doors for guidance and help only to get passed on to someone else who cant help at all. I am desperate. There does not appear to be much help for me. A friend just happened to hear of you and so hoping you can help...."

Costs are $571.35 for the myelogram and $504.00 for CT Scan that reads mylogram plus $300.00 for anesthesia. Update 1.12.09 Myelogram is today. She wants to have the surgery so we need help with funds. 6.25.09 update: surgery was on 6.24.09 all went well. she will go home today. had some relief upon recovery. 7.12.09 update ALL NERVE PAIN GONE! "All of these costs are related to the emergency treatment and hospital stay related to my broken left arm. The hospital stay was required because the bone broke through the skin exposing my arm to infection which required antibiotics through an IV. Surgery was done because the arm needed to be cleaned and a metal plate was attached to my bone." Update: 6.13.08 This was truely a miracle. By the time I had begun the routine of faxing information to the medical service provider I was told they could save me some time because he had a zero balance on his account. I know this gentleman, a Pastor, and his wife had been praying and asking God for guidance and help but this was very unexpected news. Normally, The Giving Neighbors works with medical service providers for weeks to get all information together and help the Neighbor in Need to get all their paperwork together. God truly went before us all and provided miraculously. Other medical service providers have been sent the letter and will honor the Charity program as well. K.P. - Harlingen, TX - "On March 27,2008 I slipped on ice and tore my MCL and ACL ligaments in my knee. While one of the ligaments will heal itself and probably has by now, I have to have surgery to repair the ligment in between the bones ni my knee." Circumstances: "Back in March of 2007 I married the man of my dreams and took the three week trip from Harlingen Texas to Anchorage Alaska with my two children... Once in Alaska, Raymond's health failed and I was unable to find a job until June. By then we were homeless living out of our truck. I found a good job and we got on our feet. On November 9, 2007 my husband laid down to take a nap and never work up. Due to the circumstances I found myself in, I quit my job and could barely make ends meet. In January I found another job and worked parttime which was going to become a fulltime position. On March 27, 2008 she was unable to pay me any longer and I was laid off until she could employ me again. The same day I slipped and fell on the ice, injuring my knee. I am unable to walk or provide for my family. My parents came to Alaska and drove us back to Harlingen, Texas. Once I looked into medicaid, which I had in Alaska, Texas only offers adults medicaid if they make less that $188 a month. I get $400.00 in child support a month. I am unable to walk without crutches and now after everything we have been through have no way to pay for the surgery. In fact, no doctor will see me without at least $500 down payment and as of right now I have no way of paying that. I do live with my parents but they used everything that they had to get us back to Texas."
